TikTok Shop EU compliance in 2026: which markets, and what a listing must show
By Karim El Achaq, founder of EUReady · Last updated: 6 July 2026
- TikTok Shop is live in 10 European markets as of 15 June 2026: UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and now Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland.
- Every non-food listing must carry manufacturer details and an EU responsible person, and TikTok can penalise or remove products that lack them.
- Cross-border sellers with no EU entity must appoint an EU responsible person; it applies to every product category and is not optional.
- The rules come from the GPSR (since 13 December 2024), not from TikTok. The same data belongs on your Shopify store, so build it once and reuse it.
Which EU markets is TikTok Shop live in?
As of 15 June 2026, TikTok Shop operates in ten European markets. It opened in the United Kingdom first, then Ireland and Spain in December 2024, then France, Germany and Italy on 31 March 2025, and it added Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland on 15 June 2026, its largest single European batch so far. If you sell in any of them, GPSR listing rules apply to your products.
| Market | TikTok Shop live since |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 2021 (UK product safety rules, not GPSR) |
| Ireland | December 2024 |
| Spain | December 2024 |
| France | 31 March 2025 |
| Germany | 31 March 2025 |
| Italy | 31 March 2025 |
| Austria | 15 June 2026 |
| Belgium | 15 June 2026 |
| Netherlands | 15 June 2026 |
| Poland | 15 June 2026 |
The EU markets (all except the UK) are covered by the GPSR. The UK runs its own product safety regime, so a UK listing follows UK rules, not GPSR, a distinction worth keeping straight if you sell across the Channel.
What must a TikTok Shop listing show under GPSR?
For non-food consumer products, a compliant TikTok Shop listing must identify the manufacturer, name an EU responsible person where one is required, and show the safety warnings for the product. TikTok, as the marketplace, is legally pushed to check this and can apply penalties or remove products whose manufacturer details or safety documents are missing or inaccurate.
- Manufacturer identity: name or trade name and a postal and electronic address.
- EU responsible person: name and EU contact details, mandatory when neither you nor the manufacturer is established in the EU. This applies to every product category, not just high-risk items.
- Safety information: warnings, age restrictions, hazard and disposal notes appropriate to the category.
- Accurate documentation: keep the technical and safety documents your responsible person can produce on request.
How does this map to my Shopify store?
It is the same underlying law, so the same data serves both channels. If you have already set up GPSR on Shopify with metafields, you have the manufacturer, responsible person and warning text ready to paste into TikTok Shop's fields. If you have not, build it once for whichever channel matters most and reuse it: our Shopify metafields tutorial is the how-to, and the Etsy guide covers that channel's fields.
The responsible person is the one piece you cannot copy from a spreadsheet: it is a service you appoint. Our responsible person cost guide shows realistic 2026 pricing so you can budget before you scale onto a new marketplace.

Frequently asked questions
Which European countries have TikTok Shop in 2026?
As of 15 June 2026, ten: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. All except the UK fall under the EU GPSR.
What compliance information must a TikTok Shop listing show?
For non-food products: manufacturer identity (name and address), an EU responsible person where neither you nor the manufacturer is EU based, and category-appropriate safety warnings. TikTok can penalise or remove listings that lack them.
Do I need an EU responsible person to sell on TikTok Shop in Europe?
Yes, if you have no EU entity and neither you nor your manufacturer is established in the EU. It applies to every product category and is not optional. You appoint the service and add the details to your listings.
Is TikTok Shop UK covered by GPSR?
No. The UK operates its own product safety regime, so UK listings follow UK rules. GPSR applies to the EU markets: Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland.
Can I reuse my Shopify GPSR data on TikTok Shop?
Yes. It is the same legal requirement, so the manufacturer, responsible person and warning text you set up on Shopify (via metafields) paste straight into TikTok Shop's listing fields. Keep one source of truth across channels.
