GPSR product page checklist for Shopify (7 points)

Key facts

What is the 7-point GPSR checklist?

The checklist below is the exact information an EU consumer, a market surveillance authority and a marketplace compliance bot must be able to find on your product page since 13 December 2024. Print it, open any product page of your store, and check each point honestly.

  1. Manufacturer name. The legal or trade name of whoever manufactured the product. If you make it, that is your business name.
  2. Manufacturer postal address and email. A real street address and an electronic address. A contact form alone does not satisfy the text.
  3. EU responsible person (non-EU manufacturers). Name, postal address and contact details of your EU-based responsible economic operator. See our guide to the role.
  4. Product identification. Clear photos, the product type, and a batch, model or serial reference where one exists.
  5. Warnings and safety information. The ones relevant to your category (fire safety for candles, small parts for kids' items, allergens for scented products), in a language easily understood in the buyer's country: German for Germany, French for France.
  6. Consistency with the physical product. The same information travels with the parcel: on the product, its packaging or an accompanying document. Page and label must not contradict each other.
  7. Records behind the page. Supplier documentation, risk assessment, test reports where applicable, kept typically 10 years, ready if an authority asks.

How do most stores score on this checklist?

Most stores fail the first five points outright. Of the stores we scan, the overwhelming majority show none of points 1 to 5 on any product page. The pattern is consistent: stores assume that a nice about page and an email somewhere in the footer are enough. Under the GPSR they are not: the information must be on the product offer itself, visible before purchase.

What is the fastest way to fix all seven?

On Shopify, points 1 to 5 map to metafields plus a theme block that renders them on every product page. You can build that by hand (a few hours, then maintenance on every new product), or let EUReady do it: the app scans your catalog, shows exactly which of these points each product is missing, fills the fields across the catalog in one click and renders a clean, translated safety block on your pages.

Frequently asked questions

Does the information have to be visible before purchase?

Yes. The regulation targets the offer stage: a consumer must see the safety information before deciding to buy, not discover it in the parcel.

Can I put the GPSR info in my footer or FAQ page instead?

No. The information belongs on each product offer. A general page can complement it but does not replace listing-level display, especially since warnings differ per product.

Do I need this for products I do not ship to the EU?

GPSR attaches to sales to EU consumers. If you genuinely exclude EU shipping, it does not apply; if EU customers can order, comply or geo-block.
